Building a Site with Mr Site

When you set out to create your own website, you will need to find a good web host service.

Web hosts are companies that provide storage space for websites.
The kind of web host service you choose may depend on the kind of website you're planning to build.

Will your website be to serve your own online business? Will it be a hobby website? Will it be a website that provides information? Or will it be to promote an existing business?

For absolute beginners, one interesting web hosting option is Mr Site. The unique selling point of Mr Site is that you can "buy it in a box".

Its features include:

  • Professional Designs which you can choose from and customise (experts can upload their own html)
  • Your own web name
  • Email and Webmail
  • Photo gallery
  • Music Player
  • Discussion Forum
  • Blog
  • Secure Paypal Shopping Cart - If you want to sell items online
You build and maintain your website from the Mr Site website and the page building tools are said to be very easy to use.

However there are design limitations so it is probably best for absolute beginners or people who just want a basic straightforward website.

It costs £34.99 if you order it direct from their website and is renewable after a year at £2.49 per month.

Web Creation

I’ve decided to write a blog about building your own website from scratch both as a record for me and as an information resource for other beginners.

Creating your own website can be a daunting and overwhelming task.

How do you make your website stand out amongst all the other millions of sites on the world wide web?

What makes a website successful?

How do you get on to the front page of the search engines?

Which are the best webhosting services?

Graphic designer or DIY?

Is it better to have a weblog or a website?

I don’t know whether I’ll be able to answer these questions but these are the sort of topics I’ll be hoping to explore and investigate.

There are a lot of blogs and websites about this topic written by IT experts, SEO specialists and internet gurus.

The author of this blog knows virtually nothing - at the moment. But I hope before long I’ll know a whole lot more.

So visit this blog again if you’re interested.
